چکیده

This paper deals with the use of stochastic resonance (SR) for detection purposes. The nonlinear physical phenomenon of SR generally occurs in dynamical bistable systems excited by a noisy sine: such systems are able to force cooperation between sine and noise such that the noise ampli1es the sine. Because of this non-intuitive e3ect, the use of SR can be envisaged to detect small amplitude sines corrupted by additive noise. In this paper we recall some basics of detection and then show why SR can be used in sine detection context. After recalling some basics of SR in discrete time, we show how to use SR in a detection scheme. ? 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

HYBRID COLLIDING BODIES OPTIMIZATION AND SINE COSINE ALGORITHM FOR OPTIMUM DESIGN OF STRUCTURES

Colliding Bodies Optimization (CBO) is a population-based metaheuristic algorithm that complies physics laws of momentum and energy. Due to the stagnation susceptibility of CBO by premature convergence and falling into local optima, some meritorious methodologies based on Sine Cosine Algorithm and a mutation operator were considered to mitigate the shortcomings mentioned earlier. Sine Cosine Al...

Numerical Modeling of a Metamaterial Biosensor for Cancer Tissues Detection

In this paper, the numerical design and simulate a biosensor to detect tumors and cancerous tissues by using metamaterial structures in the microwave regime are presented. The presented structure consists of a microstrip transmission line and a split ring resonator (SRR) that form a bandpass filter and has a unique resonance frequency. Given that cancerous tissues have larger volumes of water t...

Stochastic Resonance in Thalamic Neurons and Resonant Neuron Models

Neurons of the thalamus are major participants in gating sensory information for relay to the neocortex. Thalamic neurons are crucially involved in rhythmogenesis which determines the sleep/wake cycle. These roles require critical involvement of a T-type calcium current, conferring a frequency preference in response to subthreshold signals. We examine the interactions of this membrane resonance...

Detection of Glioblastoma Multiforme Tumor in Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy Based on Support Vector Machine

Introduction: The brain tumor is an abnormal growth of tissue in the brain, which is one of the most important challenges in neurology. Brain tumors have different types. Some brain tumors are benign and some brain tumors are cancerous and malignant. Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) is the most common and deadliest malignant brain tumor in adults. The average survival rate for peo...

Overlapping Community Detection in Social Networks Based on Stochastic Simulation

Community detection is a task of fundamental importance in social network analysis. Community structures enable us to discover the hidden interactions among the network entities and summarize the network information that can be applied in many applied domains such as bioinformatics, finance, e-commerce and forensic science. There exist a variety of methods for community detection based on diffe...
